Did you know that Lake Massawippi is teeming with magnificent lake trout? Probably one of the healthiest lake trout lakes in Quebec. With depths of up to 300 feet and numerous rock walls, Lake Massawippi offers specimens of lake trout in excess of 25 pounds. Of course, lake trout fishing requires a boat and deep-sea fishing equipment. Occasionally, lucky anglers manage to catch lake trout from shore, but this is still rare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the past few years, the Club de conservation du lac Massawippi has been stocking 10 to 13-inch rainbow trout at a cost of $5 each. They also stock brown trout in their own fish farm. Some anglers will be lucky enough to catch rainbow trout, a combative and spectacular fish. The municipality of North Hatley contributes approximately $200 a year to the stocking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake Massawippi is one of Quebec’s finest fishing lakes. In fact, every spring, at the opening of the season, over 100 boats gather to fish for lake trout. Of course, it’s not all salmonids. There are also bass, pike, yellow perch and carp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re interested in fishing Lake Massawippi, to my knowledge, there are two fishing guide services available. Mr. Florent H\u00e9bert <\/a>and the Fish le camp group offer guided outings at affordable prices.<\/a> This summer, enjoy a fishing trip with family or friends on Lake Massawippi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also fish from the federal wharf, an excellent spot, and at Dreamland Park (now possibly off-limits). Please note that fishing from the bridges at North Hatley and the marina is prohibited, according to my understanding of the signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
