Unfortunately, I can’t get over the issue of the soccer field at Parc des Rivi\u00e8res. It’s a symbol of poor management. Since early spring, the soccer goals have had no nets and are positioned right next to each other. They are completely unusable for children. I have three boys under the age of seven, so I am a potential user of this service. I have taken a photo of the soccer goals almost every day, feeling discouraged. Why are we unable to manage two soccer goals? And it’s not a big expense!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, the mayor herself attaches great importance to the soccer field when it comes to installing the refrigerated skating rink at Parc des Rivi\u00e8res. This seems completely contradictory to the municipality’s actions in managing the soccer field. As they say, actions speak louder than words. The worst part is that it’s impossible not to see the soccer goals when you go to the farmers’ market on Saturday mornings. A large part of the population passes by them. Yet the goals have remained unusable since the beginning of spring. But the mayor insists that they are very important for our young people and useful for our schools. I quote the mayor from the city council meeting on July 7:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are young people in the municipality who really enjoy playing soccer, so we can’t take up all the space in Rivi\u00e8res Park and remove a service that children really enjoy. Schools also take up a lot of the fields during school hours.\u201d<\/strong><\/em>

Is there another soccer field in North Hatley that I haven’t found yet? The idea of a refrigerated skating rink is good, but it would be nice to start by maintaining and placing our two soccer goals in Riverside Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rest assured, I am convinced that the role of mayor is not an easy task. However, this simple example concerns me greatly about the current governance of the village of North Hatley.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
