Following the recent demolition of 190 Main Street and the upcoming demolition of the Pleasant View Beach building<\/a>, a public notice of demolition has now been issued for 2013-2015 Lake Road. In all these cases, we are talking about large-scale construction projects intended to replace existing buildings. I remain both surprised by the disappearance of buildings that are still habitable and concerned about the amount of waste this generates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I understand why this path has been chosen: demolition offers almost total freedom in terms of what will be built next. Starting with a blank slate allows for the design of a modern building, without the constraints of an old structure, which is often complex to adapt and very costly to renovate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t know about you, but I really feel that the face of North Hatley is changing rapidly<\/a>. Is this for the better or not? It’s hard to say: it all depends on your point of view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
