Even though we currently have both feet in the snow and winter is beautiful, the summer season will arrive in less than 90 days. Boating season will already begin on April 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time I try to travel along Mill Street, whether on foot or by car \u2014 often with great difficulty \u2014 I wonder what this area will look like this summer. Let us remember that last year the street offered a rather dismal scene: containers, fencing, unpleasant odors\u2026 a true visual and olfactory nightmare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the situation seems even worse. Major construction work is underway and is expected to continue at least until July 2026. In several areas, the street resembles a war zone. For now, let\u2019s just say the odors are frozen in the ice and will likely return in full force this spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, I brought together the owners of commercial buildings to relocate the containers to the back of the parking lot<\/a>, to the left of the marina, and to temporarily conceal them behind a wooden fence enhanced with climbing plants. Merchants were open to this quick and temporary solution, recognizing that the situation was affecting everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, the municipality indicated that it would take charge of the matter, since solutions were included in the master plan \u2014 which is now in effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But concretely, what will Mill Street look like this summer? Construction work, containers, concrete blocks, damaged pavement, and unpleasant odors\u2026 all on one of the main routes used by visitors to access Main Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does anyone know what plan the municipality has for Mill Street? To my knowledge, only the municipality knows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
