Last night was full of suspense—especially in the mayoral race. Ms. Davis-Gerrish defeated Mr. Patella, 271 votes to 136. We also saw a rematch of 2021 between Richard Gourde and Élizabeth Fee, with the same outcome but a tighter contest: 230 to 180 in favour of Ms. Fee. Finally, Claude Gendron prevailed over Alexandre Sonea with a margin of 42 votes.

North Hatley’s next municipal council will therefore include five councillors returning to their seats, along with two newcomers, Mr. Gendron and Ms. Dangoisse, who will bring a breath of fresh air.

Congratulations to everyone who put their name forward. It’s an important and demanding commitment. Win or lose, thank you for contributing to North Hatley’s democratic vitality and political diversity.

Voter turnout rose by 5.49 points: from 59.5% in 2021 to 64.99% in 2025. Bravo to all the citizens who came out to vote!

Voter turnout: 68.15%
Number of valid ballots: 417
Number of rejected ballots: 13
Number of registered electors: 631

By comparison, most mayors in neighbouring municipalities were elected by acclamation:

Canton de Hatley: 56.49%
Hatley: Elected unopposed
Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley: Elected unopposed
Ayer’s Cliff: Elected unopposed

Now it’s time to get back to work.
There’s plenty on our plate!
