Comme vous le savez, c’est tranquille à North Hatley durant l’hiver. Heureusement que le Solstice Sauna dynamise le village avec ses saunas sociaux avec baignade dans le lac Massawippi. Malheureusement, plusieurs autres commerces sont fermés dont : Chocolatière (saisonnier), Casa-Wippi (saisonnier), dépanneur toujours fermé et aussi le Mercantile qui a fermé définitivement ses portes tout récemment.
As you know, North Hatley is quiet during the winter. Fortunately, Solstice Sauna energizes the village with its social saunas and swimming in Lake Massawippi. Unfortunately, several other businesses are closed, including: Chocolatière (seasonal), Casa-Wippi (seasonal), the convenience store (always closed), and Mercantile, which recently closed its doors for good.

This slowly gives the impression of a ghost town, in addition to the proliferation of storytellers and construction work at Rivière Park. Of course, things will improve in the spring with a brand new 22-unit condo building, including commercial space on the ground floor.
Let’s hope for a harsh winter so we can enjoy the outdoor skating rink, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing (Mont Hatley), ice fishing, and snowball fights at the baseball park.
It should be remembered that on May 5, 2025, the council imposed a moratorium on commercial zones pending completion of the master plan. The master plan was adopted at the beginning of October last year, so where do we stand with lifting the moratorium on commercial zones?
